Description

The Words to the Song:
Sung to: BINGO

There were five owls
In an old oak tree
And this is how they sounded
A E I O U, A E I O U, A E I O U
And that is how they sounded

There were five owls
In an old oak tree
But one owl flew away
Whoo E I O U, Whoo E I O U, Whoo E I O U
And that is how they sounded

There were four owls
In an old oak tree
But one owl flew away
Whoo Whoo I O U, Whoo Whoo I O U
Whoo Whoo I O U
And that is how they sounded

There were three owls
In an old oak tree
But one owl flew away
Whoo Whoo Whoo O U
Whoo Whoo Whoo O U
Whoo Whoo Whoo O U
And that is how they sounded

There were two owls
In an old oak tree
But one owl flew away
Whoo Whoo Whoo Whoo U
Whoo Whoo Whoo Whoo U
Whoo Whoo Whoo Whoo U
And that is how they sounded

There was one owl
In an old oak tree
But then he flew away
Whoo Whoo Whoo Whoo Whoo
Whoo Whoo Whoo Whoo Whoo
Whoo Whoo Whoo Whoo Whoo
And that is how they sounded

Sample Activity Suggestion: Owls are nocturnal creatures meaning they are awake at night and sleep during the day. People are diurnal meaning they are the awake during the day and sleep during the night. Hide objects or creatures an owl might hunt around your classroom and turn off the lights letting the children/owls hunt and find them. Either before or after “the hunt”, talk about nocturnal and diurnal and the differences between the two.
